Open ZED File
Files with the ZED extension are primarily used by programs that support the torrent-based file transfer protocol, for example BitTorrent or uTorrent.
About the Torrent Protocol
It is a protocol designed for the exchange of files between equals (peer-to-peer) or P2P, on the Internet.
It is one of the most common protocols for transferring files of any kind.
The original name of the protocol is BitTorrent and it was designed by Bram Cohen in 2001.
There are numerous BitTorrent clients available for various operating systems.
It is important to highlight that the BitTorrent protocol moves more than 40% of the world's Internet traffic daily, with its almost 200 million daily users.
At any point in time, BitTorrent has, on average, more active users than YouTube and Facebook combined (in instant time terms, not in total number of unique users).
On the other hand, after the closure of the Megaupload website, the use of this protocol has increased considerably.
BitTorrent also owns a cryptocurrency and NFT that comes about six months after BitTorrent was taken over by TRON, focused on creating a truly decentralized internet.
ZED files are small and store the metadata used by the clients of the programs mentioned above.
ZED files are not designed to be opened manually by the user, so it is not recommended.
