Open SIB File

A SIB file extension and format is a musical score created with the music notation software Sibelius.

More about Sibelius

Sibelius is a score creation computer program developed by Avid Technology.

It is the most popular music notation program in the world, which makes it rank as the best seller.

Sibelius is also a music player, which uses sampled or synthesized sounds.

It produces printed sheet music and also has the ability to publish it over the Internet for others to access.

Named after Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, in August 2006 it was acquired by Avid for its Digidesign division, which also makes the Pro Tools digital audio workstation.

Avid laid off the entire original Sibelius development team and subsequently recruited some new programmers to continue Sibelius development.

On the other hand, Steinberg hired most of the old Sibelius team to create a competitive piece of software, called Dorico.

It is important to note that a SIB file can be composed using software or a MIDI input device.

The SIB file can be used to play software instruments, but it does not contain actual audio data, so it is not considered an audio or multimedia file as such.

SIB files can also be exported as standard MIDI files with the MID extension, using the Sibelius software.
