Open SFK File

An SFK file extension stores the waveform image of an audio wave file, typically saved as WAV, characteristic of Sound Forge Pro from MAGIX or a Sony digital media device.

About Sound Forge Pro

Sound Forge Pro is used to professionally create, mix, and design sound effects.

The SFK file is automatically created when an audio file is opened with Sound Forge Pro.

SFK files are saved in the same folder with the same name as the audio file.

How to Open SFK files

SFK files are used by Sound Forge Pro and also VEGAS, both developed by MAGIX, to visually represent audio data, but are not intended to be opened or manually edited.

It is important to note that SFK files do not contain actual audio data, so they are not considered audio files, per se.

However, because the format is proprietary, if the related audio file were to be modified in a different program, it could be corrupted and, in any case, can be regenerated by selecting "Rebuild Peak Data" in the special menu of SoundForge.

Sound Forge Pro was acquired by Sony in May 2003, and then Sound Forge Pro was acquired by MAGIX in 2016.
