The router converts the data stream from your Internet connection into radio signals.
Linksys, as a Holding, was Cisco's brand of products for the home and small business market, which the company acquired in 2003.
In 2013 the Linksys brand was acquired by the Belkin company and is the one that currently has control over the company.
These signals are received by WiFi-enabled devices such as smartphones, laptops, and tablets.
Thus, the RMT file contains data and programs used for the operation of a router.
Also, the RMT is used to provide firmware updates for bug fixes and security patches.
RMT files are typically updated using a web browser that is connected to a web application hosted on the router.
RMT files should not be opened manually by the user, as this can permanently render the router unusable.
