Open DESKTOP File

DESKTOP file extension is mainly used for Desktop Entry Format files.

Files with DESKTOP extension may be used by programs distributed for Linux, Windows platform.

These DESKTOP files are attached with original files and are used by some Linux, Windows and MAC programs as reference data when a user accesses menu options in an application.

The data stored in these DESKTOP files, consists of integrated plain text information with XML-based encoding specifications, and these plain text entries are pieces of data relevant to the corresponding menu item, upon request in focus.

DESKTOP files, in other words, reference the data in the desktop file and display the corresponding data from the menu item toolbar in focus.

Software to open a DESKTOP file

DESKTOP files are not designed to be opened manually, in fact, they do not depend on the operating system, as they are system files.

Therefore we do not recommend trying to open a DESKTOP file manually.
